金東電影院1950年，當時的台北市議會議長張祥傳先生，為了慰勞金門前線軍官，捐款興建戲院，提供軍人休憩遊樂場所，興建的正是金東電影院。那時電影場場爆滿，連帶讓陽翟街區也熱鬧非凡，理髮廳、撞球室、澡堂應運而生；經過數十年，金東電影院在整修後仍然保留50年代的氣息，替往日盛況留下鮮明記憶。
聽金門人提起小時候住在戲院旁的記憶，說是當時金門沒有電台，民宅家中也都沒有電唱機，歌曲都是靠電影院播放才廣為流行，每天電影院要開播前就會開始用擴音器播放流行歌曲。(攝影/于家豪)
