台電公司於民國一百零八年，由綜合研究所以試驗性質，建置金門夏興能量型儲能系統。本計畫引進日本成熟的儲能技術，並結合國內電機廠商共同協作，期望帶動臺灣儲能設備相關產業的發展。

本系統採用鈉硫電池，額定功率為一千八百瓩，額定容量為一萬零八百度電。可在一千八百瓩功率下，連續充放電六小時，或以較低功率，提供更漲時間的電力支援。
