金管處自 115年起將傷癒猛禽衛星追蹤納入鳥類救傷管理機制，使救傷工作由醫療照護延伸至科學監測。首波追蹤成果顯示，東方鵟具高度棲地忠誠性，短耳鴞則除農地外，亦利用花崗岩植被區作為隱蔽棲息環境，顯示金門多元地景對猛禽保育之重要，為猛禽保育工作再添重要里程碑。

相對於東方鵟，短耳鴞則展現出廣泛的移動性，足跡橫跨金沙鎮與金湖鎮，北起官澳、南至南石滬公園。特別的是，過去紀錄多認為短耳鴞偏好農田草叢，但本次監測發現，該個體日間多選擇於花崗石醫院上方的花崗岩盤植被區棲息，打破了過往對短耳鴞棲地選擇的單一印象。
