海洋廢棄物目前已經成為世界各沿海國心頭之痛！有鑑於治理此疾有賴各國協力，海洋委員會今三月十六日於國立金門大學召開印太海洋廢棄物治理國際論壇，邀請日、韓、菲、印尼、越南、柬埔寨等國代表與我國海廢專家學者、NGO代表等對談，一起協力為印太海廢治理尋求解方。帛琉環境部長Steven Victor更是擔任本次主題演講人，介紹了帛琉的相關因應做法。

海洋委員主委管碧玲於致詞中表示，海洋是全球最重要、最寶貴的資產，同時提供人類食物、能源、礦產等，我們都是地球的一員，海洋廢棄物的治理是大家的共同責任！而海洋的遼闊與廣大，也注定海廢治理需要共同合作，需要各方的長期合作方能實現。她特別點出，金門兩地深受海廢處理之苦，耗費資金無數，近三年海委會也為此補助金門處理海廢經費 1382.2 萬元，補助馬祖的經費更是高達3095.7 萬元。
